Asimov just wrote a favorable review of La Palapa Rockola, which was one of the worst meals i have ever had. I love latin food and i went with a group of 4 so we sampled a good chunk of the menu but across the board everything was downright bad. I've been to the La Palapa in the East Village and found it to be much better but still not so great. No clear/bold flavors. No spice. No originality. The food was all mushy and everything tasted the same. To top it off the service was horrible and the prices were not that cheap. He admits that when it opened the kitchen didn't have their act together (something that seems to be all too common these days) but since then they have improved. I went about a month or two ago, has it changed that much?
