What is wrong with me. Or maybe nothing? Recently ate at Picholine--hadn't been for a while and the cheese still looked great, tho I didn't indulge. Did order the dinner, 3 courses. First up was a salad. Great elements, little taste. Was there dressing on it? Perhaps, but so little that it didn't matter. It advertised banyuls vinegar, but I couldn't taste the darn stuff at all. Main course, diver scallops, $6 supplement. Three scallops. Advertized with a rhubarb ragout. Maybe a teaspoon of that mixed with butter. Almost no taste. Almost no salt. Ordered fruit for dessert. It was beautifully presented, surgicaly sliced overlapping pieces, and if I put it on a scale, I'd say, maybe 2 ounces. Served with red sorbet. What flavor is that, I asked my husband. It tasted sweet. It tasted of nothing whatsoever except sugar. Is anyone else having this problem, or are my tastebuds shot from old age and too much Indian food???? I'm beginning to lose my confidence. So many restaurants lately remind me of The Emporer's New Clothes. Beautiful service, lovely room, but but no punch on the dish. Went home and ate a bowl of cereal. Hungry!
