El Bocadito

My husband and I went to El Bocadito on Orchard Street last Friday night. It looked promising, even with the place being extremely tiny. Just a few tables and a bar in the front and the back. After putting our name on the list and waiting outside with others for 20 minutes or so, we finally sat down. We ordered the corn, chicken taco, potato taquitos, chips and guacamole. We were extremely disappointed. The prices are so high for what you get. We got a quarter of an ear of corn which was extremely tasty but it was $6.00. The chips and guacamole were about the same price. The potato taquitos were the same price but at least you had two of them wrapped with some creama on top and served with green salsa which was tasty. The chicken taco was one flour taco that was so bland and a ripoff considering it cost $5.00. We left feeling very disappointed and ripped off, plus we were still hungry. When we left, we asked a group that was waiting outside with us and they said that it wasn't that great. It wasn't even authentic Mexican street snacks like they advertised, and we have been to different parts of Mexico to eat their street snacks: corn, tacos, etc. It is a very nice place that just opened last week but the food was not worth it at all. I have yet to find any good, authentic Mexican food in NYC like they have all over the west coast.
