By far the best meal we have had here was at Hadrian, on the northern edge of Old Town, in some grand hotel (I need to take better notes). Elegant atmosphere, terrific service, and great food. I had the poached salmon with hollandaise, accompanied by a delightful array of fresh vegetables (£8.95). SigOther had a tasty vegetable tart. A side order of string beans with shallots (£2.40) were also remarkable. And, for all its elegance, the place is not at all expensive. For expensive, check out the menu at the restaurant downstairs.
