Echigo, Friday night

A good crowd - all seats at the bar taken and several tables with 6-8 people - attentive service, good jazz AND very very specially fresh fish - New Zealand salmon, albacore belly and ono, skipjack, shrimp eggs, toro, halibut, crab roll - can't believe we ate all this - $40 a person including saki. The place had a few repeat customers judging from the greetings and good byes. I think its surviving but it is certainly worth supporting (so different from a couple of other sushi experiences I've had recently, fairly inferior) Echigo is the freshest of the fresh. Gee once you eat this quality, its hard to stop.
