Odds and ends from the last month or so, thanks to the board for some good chowtips:
Flames II, Brigham Circle
Good goat curry (tender, deep flavoured, heavier on the coriander/cumin axis) on a rather savoury rice with beans.
Singh's Roti, Dorchester
A heavy cloth of soft chewy roti, a gentler, greener goat curry, nice potatoes, lightly flavoured chana/chickpeas. Curry on the cool side, the steam table not holding it own. Not sure how it's like in Trinidad, but have always preferred a bit of crispness on Indian bread. Quite tasty but nothing mindblowing.
Papa Beard, Quincy Market
Not the best cream puffs I've had but still fairly good choux, a heavy carapace around soft lquid cream. The eclairs with vanilla are my favourite.
Springwell Market, Charles Street, Beacon Hill
Been getting my smoothie fix here. Generous pours, usually with more in the blender after a heavy initial gulp. I generally choose ones without the soy proteins as they add a powdery texture to the drink.
Hu Tieu Nam Vang, Chinatown
Revisited them after a long hiatus. Interesting pork and shrimp noodle soup (on the menus under glass on the tables). Some (ok) popcorn shrimp, and what seemed like two pork knuckles, decent for fatty pork, but much better for the dense chewy tendon.
