East Manor

I had the opportunity to try East Manor on Tuesday, and I have to say that I would definitely go back. In fact, I would like to get back soon.

For those of you unfamiliar, they took over the Weylu's spot on Rt 1 in Saugus and own four other locations in and around New York. The concept is a very extensive Chinese focused Pan-Asian buffet.

Obviously, each individual dish is not as high quality as a place like Peach Farm - I think that goes without saying. Certainly the food quality was on par with a place like PF CHangs, and the variety and uniqueness adds a great deal to the experience.

Overall, the food quality ranged from mediocre (maki sushi) to good (Hong Kong Style Chinese dishes) to very good (some Dim Sum, Bau, Carved Peking Duck and Boneless Spareribs). The variety of selections was pretty amazing, and they seemed to constantly be bringing out small portions of new food so there wasn't a lot sitting around.

For $12 at lunch, it was a total bargain. For $25 at dinner, I'd guess nobody would be terribly upset. For $5 you can add a lobster to your bill.

Wine and beer only right now.
