How to distinguish fine porcelain and glass from cheaper quality?

eugenep | Sep 22, 202004:54 PM     3

I'm not sure if all porcelain is the same? It's different from stoneware and glassware bc it's fired at a higher temperature - but I'm wondering if that's all that matters in choosing fine porcelain?

It used to be made only in Jingdezhen, China but is it all the same everyone now in terms of quality? I was looking at French maker Revol and their made in France porcelain wares.

But how to know what is good or not? - like are there standards or guidelines? And is it the same for glass?

And what about bone china (invented in London)?

I bought a Mottehedeh porcelain tea cup at $95 (made in Portugal) as a sample on the internt and will be buying others if this checks out. But I've been looking at other porcelain wares and vases etc. but there doesn't seem to be any guidelines out there etc.
