Dinosaur BBQ in Rochester

Just spent a weekend visiting a friend in Rochester. I had read about the Dino and wanted to check it out.

Overall, it exceeded my expectations in some areas and fell short in others. The wings were very good in a non-traditional way. They are smoked rather than deep-fried so you won't get a real crispy texture. However, they were tender and delicate in flavor. We loved the sauce too. Perfect.
The pulled pork was truly exceptional. No doubt the best dish I had at the Dino and possibly the best pulled pork I've ever had anywhere.
I also had a small slice of prime rib on my sampler plate, and it was tasty.
As for the ribs, I agree with a previous poster that they are overrated. They are not tender. They have a meaty, chewy texture. The seasoning is average. I do realize this is completely due to personal preference. I like my ribs with the meat fallin' off the bone. I prefer a sweet, dark, smoky sauce. I didn't get that at the Dinosaur so the ribs fell short, IMHO.
The peel & eat shrimp were average. The sides we tried were average. I absolutely cannot recommend the sweet potato pie or the chocolate icebox pie. Both were lousy.
So, the critical question. Would I go back? Yes, the pulled pork is definitely worth a return trip. We concluded that the Dinosaur is one of those places where you have to know what to order. Sometimes you can only determine that with trial and error.
