I am planning a birthday dinner for a dear boy who works all the time and says he'll eat anything as long as people are happy, his father, who tends toward the cigar smoking steakhouse variety, his teenage sister, who would prefer to subsist on pizza, chicken fingers and fried mozzarella sticks, but who may be occasionally tempted to eat other things as long as they're not too exotic, and me, the chowhound, who REALLY hates to pay for food that is bad or that I could cook more easily at home. Also, it needs to be reasonably priced, and in Manhattan. Below 14th Street somewhere in the middle would be best (ie Ave. D's a little hard to get to). Dinner THIS FRIDAY. All suggestions are greatly appreciated.
