Does anyone have a tip for a good and good value dinner. My cousin is taking me to dinner and I don't want to impose on her generosity, but she feels the need to go to a good place. I'd rather not eat Italian or go the East Village, but Ms. Williamsburg Diner is the sort of place I'd go if I were in that mood. The food's not neither fancy nor expensive, but it is well prepared and thoughtful, and the service is attentive. Kalustyan's, a bit more expensive and now closed, also would have been great.
I'll go anywhere in Manhattan for the right experience, but I'd like to stay south of 59th street, and east of 1st avenue. Flatiron would be ideal.
The other catch is that the cuisine shouldn't be too adventuresome. No need for it to be trendy, I'd prefer it weren't.
Thanks in advance for your help.
