Dinner on the way home last night

Thanks for many responses to my post yesterday about where to eat heading home from LAX. Though I'd planned on Bilal, we ended up at the casual place next to Il Grano..can't remember the name.

I had a moment of sincere regret after I ordered chicken and then saw everyone eating pizza. (too fattening as I have to fit into a wedding dress shortly.) It's a cute little place with a great waiter but the food was just ok. Started with a green salad and calamari salad. Nicely dressed and fine. He had seafood risotto. Very little seafood and tasted underdone to me; i love risotto but do not like it to be almost crunchy. I had chicken picatta. The chicken was tender (either had been pounded or marinated) but the sauce was uninspired. Picatta is such a simple dish that the flavors of capers, wine and lemon should shine; this one did not and the sauce was brown and sorta thick. Cornstarch?

Next time I'm heading straight for Bilal...a special thanks to Bob Wollman for menu recs.
