I know it's a month away and extremely cliche, but I've been put in charge of arranging a birthday evening to see the Sex and the City Movie.
A location with great cosmopolitans is a huge plus but not an absolute must. Dinner on the casual side, close to a theater, is a definite must.
So far I'm considering Wichcraft simply because it's close to both the Landmark and Metreon theaters, and no one I know has ever been there. However, perhaps it's a little too casual for dinner? Salt House down on Mission looks like a fun choice, but it might be a bit far to walk to/from the theater.
We're really not going for fancy or scenester here; just solid food at a place that's relatively to get into on a Friday night. I'm also not sure how big the group will be--anywhere from five to ten people, open to any neighborhood in SF. Heck, even outside of SF if there happens to be a good restaurant near a theater!
