Was down at the old shop this weekend with a group of 16. Oysters rock were just as good as ever, had a steak special with mushrooms which was just great, with their wonderful marchand du vin sauce alongside. Stole a neighbor's oyster from the Foch..I'd almost forgotten how much I like that. Baked Alaska for the table. Nice wine service..nothing remarkable to drink since everyone started with French 75's. They were doing big business although the place wasn't packed. No one in the Dungeon or 1840 room but the Annex was half full and Rex rRoom, Escargot Room and Proteus Rooms all were occupied. The Hermes Bar was going great guns, I suppose due to the French Quarter Festival. Many people clad for the Festival were eating in the Annex. The old place continues to hold its reputation as one of the best party places in town.
