Desperately Seeking Aunt Jemima Buckwheat Pancake Mix

MikeR | Mar 17, 200806:10 AM

Sigh . . . Once again, Giant, the last place I could consistently buy it, has discontinued it. They did this before around 2000, but brought it back again a couple of years later. Call me low class, but I really like the pancakes I make with this variety, and don't care for the light, fluffy pancakes that just about all other mixes make (and I'm not nuts enough to create my own mix). During the drought, I got some high-falootin' buckwheat pancake mix ("Bob's" I think) at Whole Foods or some place like that, but I still couldn't make Aunt Jemina buckwheat cakes from it.

Next time you're in the breakfast aisle at a market other than Giant, Shoppers, Safeway, or Magruder's, take a look to see if you find it on the shelf. I can order it on line, I know, but I object to paying more for shipping than for the item, which is the case here (unless I buy a case).
