Inspired by a post on the "General Topics" board, I wanted to share my favorite fruitcake recipe. I first saw it in the LA Times food section, but now it's online multiple places.
The secret is chocolate and Cabernet! Also, most of the fruits are dried or home-candied, not that day-glo supermarket candied fruit. I substitute other liquor-preserved cherries (like Zingerman's Brandied Balaton cherries) for the glace cherries.
