Restaurants & Bars 4

H and I went to Dedo last night (Friday). We arrived around 8:45. The bar area has a bar (duh) plus about 8 tables. The seats at the bar were 3/4 full and there were 1-2 tables available. The dining room was 1/3 full when we arrived and about 1/2 full when we left around 10:15.

We started with some drinks -- a sidecar and a T10 martini. The sidecar tasted good but didn't have the raw sugar on the glass. h liked his martini, I think. Neither was up to the Gargoyle's standard, I have to say...(same owners).

We split an appetizer of fried maine clams with a "special" sauce (a creamy sauce with parmesan cheese). It also came with a side of a shaved fennel salad. The clams were absolutely delicious. Really sweet tasting, lightly fried (not greasy at all). The sauce was a nice addition. The salad was fine.

They served us a curried chick pea spread with 4 little toasts. I guess that's in lieu of bread! The spread was totally delicious. I found the little toasts a bit greasy but I still ate them! I think the spead would be even better on some bread, though!

For dinner h had the pork -- I think it was two kinds (pulled and not pulled :-) ) with some sweet potato chunks and a sweet slaw. I only tried the slaw which was fine (I'm not really a slaw person). He seemed pleased.

For my dinner I had two appetizers...a "farmers" salad which had yellow and red tomatoes and an arugula salad...and a risotto with squash. Both were delicious. The tomatoes were flavorful and had a lovely olive oil on them, the risotto was rich and delicious.

For dessert we got the "large" serving of chocolates to go...8 pieces of some scrumptious chocolates...chocolate/orange, white with some filling, chocolate/hazelnut and chocolate/creamy caramel. Very, very good.

Service was a bit awkward...nothing horrendous...he was there when we needed him and not at all obtrusive...but silly stuff like he spilled the martini (but went to get another) and when he moved our spread/toasts to put our appetizer down he actually put his finger in it. It wasn't a big deal...just the presentation wasn't very polished.

Bill total (3 apps, 1 dinner, 2 cocktails, 1 sizeable dessert) was $73 pre-tip.

The food was GREAT (kind of salty though for those who are sensitive to that!). I'm definitely going back.
