Decent Turkish in Great Neck

I was on my way to meet Ellen and her friend in Great Neck, and dreading the prospect of dinner at the diner on Lakeville and Northern. Dreading it! When what should catch my eye, but an awning proclaiming, "Ali Baba II". Well that piqued my interest -- just a few days ago we had dinner with my in-laws at Ali Baba in Murray Hill, an old favorite. Could this be owned by the same people?

When I got to Ellen's friend's house, I was able to convince everyone pretty easily that we should not go to the bad diner, and should instead check out Ali Baba. And what a shocker -- we had a good dinner in Great Neck! Not on the level of the Murray Hill place (which yes, is owned by the same people), but quite satisfying. Excellent service. Our whole dinner was mezze (is that what it's called in Turkish cuisine?) -- this is a fine way to go, tasty, not too heavy, and not too expensive -- we ended up paying about $20 per, including a generous tip.

Ali Baba II is on Welwyn Street, 2 blocks east of the train station.
