I have a friend who is a vegetarian but has surprisingly little knowledge of food shopping or cooking. Even more surprising since we live in the SF Bay area--Land of Fruits and Vegetables (I know, I know...all you non SFers are muttering under your collective breath: "Land of Nuts, too") I took him to a farmers market a few weeks ago. He was like a kid in a candy/produce store but isn't comfortable going by himself. He feels he needs me to 'translate'. I bought him Alice Water's Vegetables. He loved it. Would "Local Flavors" be a good book for him?
