b-day at jar

woofer | Jun 6, 200612:15 PM

we went with another couple to jar on friday for my birthday. my first time, probbly the last. the decor and the vibe are fun but the food was a major let it got so increasingly loud in there we could hardly hear each other.

our apps: grilled white asparagus with mozzarella which was nice, fried oysters which were just ok, tempura squash blossoms stuffed with lobster (tempura anything and it tastes good) and the best were the shrimp and crab cakes.

entrees: soft shell crab special which was tasty but the size of my appetizer and the others had steaks. my fiance ordered a filet medium which came out medium rare and my girlfriend ordered a ribeye medium rare and it came out very medium. she sent hers back and it came back the same way again so they switched steaks. just disappointing when they pride themselves on their steaks and chops. our sides were the purple yams a little dry for my liking, creamed spinach and creamed corn which might have been the best thing there and the french fries. my fiance actually brought a birthday cake in for dessert so i didn't get to sample their desserts which i have heard are good. oh well, at least the company was good and i scratched another place off my list.
