Had a fine DAT meal last night at BeauCoup, on top of Nob Hill, kiddy-corner from the Fairmont. Appies were a rich, subtle cream of celery root soup and a generous duck confit salad with lots of crunch from tiny shoestring potatoes. Entrees were a fairly plain but hearty plate of short ribs with chickpeas and fabulous seared salmon atop of a bed of braised cabbage packed with flavor from the bacon we assumed it was braised with. We went off the DAT menu for a side of some of the best frites we've had in the city--crispy, hot, perfumed with truffle and generously dusted with Parmesan. Dessert was a so-so lemon cheesecake and a satisfying chocolate pot d' creme with cinammnon flavored whipped creme and way too much espresso granita (one too many flavors.) Service was friendly and prompt, and the atmosphere is way fun.
