First of all, you'd never guess the stock market is in free fall judging from the crowd at Dal Rae on a wednesday night. It was packed when we got there at 7:30 and still packed when we left around 10:00. And it's not cheap.
Drinks - one cosmopolitan, one martini - both very good.
A classic relish tray which seems to have disappeared from most places, but is loved by everyone and should be revived.
We had a caesar salad for two prepared tableside, and both of us agreed it was one of the best we've ever had. Then we both had the pepper steak and it definitely lives up to its reputation. Normally, neither of us are wild about filets - preferring the flavor of a T-bone or rib eye. But this was a delicious piece of meat. Excellent baked potatoes (really cooked through) and surprisingly good mixed vegetables which were also cooked just perfectly. For dessert, we could not resist another tableside preparation, bananas flambe, served over very tasty vanilla bean ice cream.
The service, by a waitress who'd been there 24 years, was terrific.
It's clear why this place has remained in business for so many decades.
