Daikokuya ramen in J-town--brief report

bluemonster | Jun 4, 2004 02:53 AM

I haven't seen any reports yet on this restaurant, so here's a quick glimpse:
Daikoyuka describes their house ramen as being made from broth using bones from black pork, and they soak the boiled eggs in the broth overnight. House ramen is $7.50 for a huge, tasty bowl with a rich but not overly heavy broth. It's not exactly hot weather food, but they also have a special cold noodle dishe for summer. A tuna sashimi bowl was more than adequate for only $9.50. Combos with the house ramen & tempura or tonkatsu will run about $12. The place is really cute, kind of diner style, and the chef was sporting some pretty impressive ink. I think it's much better than the other ramen choices in J-Town.
