Coupla questions for D'Amore's veterans

I've seen loads of posts about D'Amore's Pizza Connection on this board but never paid too much attention because, hey, it was the Valley. So my apologies if all this has been recently discussed.

But now they're in my neck of the woods (Westwood) and I headed over and checked it out today. I tried 2 different "specialty" slices--pizza bianco and the meat combination.

I thought the crust was outstanding and the cheese excellent, as advertised, but I didn't really love either slice, because I thought the toppings clashed with the pizza itself. On my next visit I'd be inclined to stick to plain cheese, or maybe just add some fresh garlic. If this works out, it could become part of my regular pizza rotation along with Mulberry St. and Al Gelato (the latter being a thick crust stronghold).

I found a Thi N. post from last year that seemed to say pretty much the same thing about the plain cheese, and he also was high on the mushroom (so to speak).

So, 2, no, 3 questions for you that frequent this nascent LA instituion:

1. Does anyone strongly recommend choices other than the plain cheese and the mushroom?

2. Menu says "We deliver" but does this very thin crust stand up to the rigors of delivery and/or a 20+ minute car trip from store to home?

3. Are any of the desserts worth the calories?
