Bauer's blog post July 30th has a picture of the Corpse Reviver #2, which I must admit I've a fondness for. The trick seems to be the amount and type of absinthe, as it can overpower the drink or not add the proper sparkle.
On the peninsula, I like Martin's West.
I tried one at Piacere in San Carlos. Props for having the drink, but the bar seems heavy on the citrus to the detriment of the big picture. (True of Piacere in general. Good vibe, good music, but most dishes could have something Just A Little Better - like the grape-fennel pizza, where the grapes needed a searing and the fennel didn't come forward).
Bauer mentions Flora in Oakland and Comstock Saloon.
Anywhere else worth trying (especially on the peninsula)?
