Colborne Lane - A quick review

stonedtoronto | Nov 11, 2009 10:49 PM

After contemplating whether to go to Canoe or Colborne Lane, I stuck with CL as I already made the reservations. I had the regular 10 course tasting, while my DC had a 10 course vegetarian tasting. I've found it hit and misses when it comes to tastings, but CL for the most part got it done exceptionally well. Granted I've never gone to WD 50 or any other restos like CL, so my opinion may not be as well informed as some others.

Everything was done really well from their cod, to the sashimi. Even the wine pairings were well thought out. The only mishap was the shiraz at the end was a little too heavy near the dessert for me, and the cheddar soup (I think it was) was too rich for me.

All in all, my DC and I were happy, she had a lot of good vegetarian substitutes for her dishes. Service was prompt, even though the servers seemed less than enthused, they were attentive. Dinner lasted 3 and a half hours, total came to $450 for two tastings, with wine pairings, and two bottles of still water, tax and tip in. Coffee was comp'ed.
