Welcome to August, 2020 Dish of the Month reporting thread! This month we will be baking CLAFOUTIS, a French dessert of fruit, traditionally black cherries, arranged in a buttered dish and covered with a thick flan-like batter. The clafoutis is dusted with powdered sugar and served lukewarm, sometimes with cream. When other kinds of fruit are used instead of cherries, the dish is properly called a flaugnarde. And to whet your appetite here is Julia Child's recipe for berry clafoutis: https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1...
Use this thread to report on clafoutis you make. Pictures are not required, but are encouraged. In the spirit of DOTM, expand your personal culinary boundaries and seek out new-to-you versions of the dish to try out this month.
Do remember, all reporting threads are open indefinitely, and you can continue to post any future versions of this and all previous DOTMs that you cook. Here is a link to our archive: https://www.chowhound.com/post/links-...
Per Chowhound rules, please do not quote author’s recipe verbatim, but you may paraphrase it or include a link. If your recipe is original, you are welcome to include it in its entirety.
