City Wok/Studio City - Going downhill?

rockhead | May 23, 2005 11:54 PM

Had take-out tonight from City Wok in Studio City, corner of Ventura Blvd. and Vineland Ave. Hadn't been there in a long time. We used to do take-out all the time when City Wok was in it's former location at the corner of Riverside Dr. and Lankershim.

In a word, tonight's meal - AWFUL! We noticed right away the steamed rice tasted old, it was hard and sticking together. The chicken in the Cashew Chicken had an old-off taste to it, like it had freezer burn or had been sitting in the fridge too long. The house special chicken, basically orange chicken was really greasy and gross. The best dish was the Chow Fun noodles, however, it was such a small portion, it was hard to get a good taste of it (two small shrimp in the entire dish). Beside the food being bad, the portions have gotten a lot smaller. I guess rather than raising their prices, they're choosing to cut back on the quantity (and quality).

What do you all think of this place? For a Monday night at 5:30PM, they were pretty crowded. I can't figure out why. Anyone like it? Notice a change since they moved south to Studio City?

I know I won't be going back for a good long time.
