Cioppino and Dungeness crab

I usually make cioppino for Christmas Eve dinner and am wondering about the best and safest strategy for using Dungeness crab in it. The California Dept. of Public Health is currently recommending that whole crabs not be used in soups or stews. Should I be good with just using legs? Or should I substitute it altogether?
