This was my second visit to Chung Ki Wa, Japanese/Korean restaurant in Medford Square. After watching the gigantic flakes frentically dropping outside my window, being holed up for another day was making me crazy and craving a spicy, steamy bowl of soup. So, youngest pup and I ventured to Chung Ki Wa and had a meal worthy of the effort.
I ordered three entrees with the intent that I would bring much home for dinner/lunch for the weekend. I ordered the bimbap which I've had before here, and it was very, very good. Tons of fresh veggies, only complaint that the egg wasn't as runny as I like. All was forgiven however when I tried the pork belly with kimchi and fresh tofu. I couldn't stop eating this dish...hope I have enough for my brunch today! And the reason for my trek, clam and vegetable soup in cod broth. This was very delicious, flavorful and chock full of vegetables, fish and alas...ONE clam. All of the banchan items served with the pork were very fresh and delicious! Definitely will be back again and again and hope to see the place a lot busier although I have not been there during peak hours!! (And yes, dinner consisted of soup and what little bimbap I could wrestle away from oldest (12) chowpup!)
