Well, i ate all day. It wasn't anything extraordinary, a pretty good day in that it didn't snow, didn't have to wait in line and it all tasted good. The roundup:
Breakfast: Breugger's Bagels in Kenmore. A wonderfully turned out "everything" bage, toasted with muenster, egg, bacon and a big, cold, refreshing gulp of real apple cider. All for $3.45.
Lunch: Crispy Crepes Cafe on Park Drive. Ordered a strawbeery-lemon glaze-sugar crepe and my friend had the California (turkey, tomato, cucumber, avocado, spinach and jack cheese). Nothing out of the ordinary, but it was cheap, good and i'd go back again to try the other ones (the Tuscany offered pesto, chicken, tomato, spinach, and mozarella; there was the mandatory banana-nutella combo also). It's open pretty late and at these prices probably popular with the students.
Tea: Well, ok I had a capuccino (really frothy, dark, rich roast) and a chocolate horn pastry (perfection in the form of chocolate mousse stuffed into a soft pastry horn dipped in chocolate)at Cafe Japonaise in Brookline. If it were possible to fit anymore into my tummy, i would have dove into one of their fluffy assorted sandwich boxes, some curry doughnuts and oh some flan and maybe the ham 'n cheese croissants.
Dinner: There have been some sour reviews of Turner Fisheries, but since the spouse was demanding raw bar food and we were footworn in the Copley area, we decided to give dinner a try here. Started with the Cold Water Oysters ( a selection of which the small, buttery, subtle-tatsing Kumamoto was my favourite), the Shucked Clams which the spouse dubbed "very good" and Jumbo Shrimp which were huge and accompanied by a not-so-obnoxious ramoulade. We split the Haddock - light, perfectly moist and flaky at the same time, accompanied by a very tasty, smooth sweet potato mash with gorgeous, plump crab bits in it, with a "lobster-vanilla" sauce. I didn't taste any vanilla, but it was all really good. I had a Turner-Dirty martini after the meal, so honestly, I'm not imagining it - we had a good meal at Turner Fisheries tonight.
