ARe there any really hardcore chowhounds who actually LIKE raisins?
We get queries all the time like the one today which read "good babka is something I never tire of. I prefer mine without raisins, if you don't mind". It's starting to seem like "hold the raisins" is almost a chowhound cliche.
I personally don't like raisins, so before I start projecting my own personal predilections into some sort of Larger Theory, I was wondering if anybody out there would care to defend those wrinkly, dessicated, cloying little culinary landmines. Not to be prejudicial or anything, of course...
ps--I do like 'em ok in pilaf, where they swell up and get softer. And I like cinnamon raisin bread, though I'd probably like it better without the raisins.
