I had the best one-day trip to New Orleans yesterday with my son (4.)
The highlight of the trip was a place that I never would have stopped at if not for the things I read here.
We arrived at 9:30 AM, and had a 6:30 PM flight home. After the aquarium (interesting but too damn crowded) we headed back towards the airport and Harbor Seafood. The place was packed at 4 PM, and I soon found out why. I had two dozen of the tastiest oysters I have ever had ($3.25 each,) a bowl of artichoke and oyster soup ($3,) a draft beer ($1,) and my son had fried catfish which he loved ($3.95.)
We struck up conversations with the folks around us, and basically had a blast. I called a friend back here in Montgomery and told him that I just ate 2 dozen oysters and a beer for $7.50, and I think he is checking out the airline schedules for a trip himself.
I have learned some great and useful things here on Chowhound but this is among the best.
