If your ONLY focus is food, and price is no object, then go to Chinois. Creative, very good food. But, if you also care about ambiance and good service, spend you money at other restaurants (for example, Via Veneto one of the best Italian restaurants in the U.S., is just down the street).
Chinios places its tables so close together that the children at your neighboring table (and there will be young children there) can easily jostle you. Additionally, the bus staff appear to find the space constrictive because they reach across and in front of you, without a word of warning.
On the plus side, the martini's are excellent and you will need at least one to survive the dining experience.
