My fiancee and I will be travelling to Chicago this coming Saturday. We will be staying at The Westin Lombard Yorktown Center for the Saturday night, then The Tremont Chicago Hotel at Magnificent Mile for Sunday and Monday night.
We are coming from Toronto, Canada and we are looking to try out some of Chicago's finest.
We are very open to suggestion, but would love to taste some must tries. Neither of us are really into wines so restaurants with good wine lists are not as important to us. We are very adventurous and willing to try anything.
We likely won't venture too far out of the area the first night and we hope to find some restaurants close by. But for Sunday and Monday and Tuesday morning/lunch, we need to fill our food itinerary. We would like to keep it reasonable with the exception of one nicer dinner ($75 a head all in), the rest we would like to sample smaller restaurants or places that are unique to Chicago.
Toronto is pretty diverse in terms of ethnic food such as Chinese, Indian, Thai, Middle Eastern, so we likely wouldn't be looking for those unless they are absolutely must tries.
We would like to do some prix fixes, or small tasting menus, my fiancees not the biggest eater, so 10 or 15 course tasting menus would just be a waste for her, or tapas/small plates. Pretty much places we can't experience in Toronto.
We are open to having lunch/brunch at better restaurants rather than dinner due to our budget. What are some good lunch/bruch places that would allow us to experience a top notch restaurant at a fraction of the cost for dinner??
Any suggestions would be much appreciated. BTW, we do have a car, so we are willing to drive a little, but not too out of the way unless it's a must try! Thanks in advance!!
