Chez P--as good as all that?

So, Gourmet just came out with their 50 best restaurants issue--and Chez Panisse was at the top of the list, again. Is it really as good as all that these days? I haven't been, but I've heard several disgruntled reports from friends that it's not as good as it was. Sometimes I wonder if food writers are just paying homage to the idea of the place and their memories of what it was in the 70s/80s (Alice, Jeremiah, Paul Bertolli, etc.) than to the reality now. Surely Alice is a brand now, not a chef/ restauranteur. Thoughts?
