Chez Antoine--review

So, finally went there with my husband last night. We each had a savory crepe and then shared a dessert crepe. I liked it, but didn't love it.

My husband had a crepe with tomato, caramelized onion, feta (which he switched to swiss) and he added chicken. He loved his crepe; as a veggie, I didn't try it. I had the Greque (caramelized onion, feta (which I switched for swiss), spinach, tomato). Flavors generally good, although instead of all of the fillings being mixed together, I had a pocked of tomato, and then ran into a pocket of spinach, etc. The crepes were thin, light, not at all greasy. The options for vegetarians among the savory crepes weren't great (you gotta like cheese with more cheese.)

The flavor of the filling in the nutella/banana puree crepe was wonderful. However, I had the feeling it was microwaved. The filling was quite hot, and yet the crepe wasn't. Moreover, the crepe was just a bit too rubbery. So, flavor was good, texture was off.

The atmostphere left a bit too be desired (too bright, garishly (and poorly) painted). There's no smoking (which I love). The chef goofed on our order, putting the chicken in my crepe instead of my husband's. We don't know this because we found out, however, we know it because our waitress figured it out before bringing us the food. And, instead of letting us wait a bit longer for the right entrees, the waitress came over, said there had been a goof-up, apologized, and told us she would comp us our drinks! This wins MAJOR kudos (and good tip) from me and my husband.

With tax, tip, and no alcohol, the total came to $30 for two, a very fair price. I would certainly go again, but I don't think I would run back.
