I was just reading a story John E. shared about those little boxes of cereal in the multipacks, and eating them in front of the black and white TV at his grandmother's house when he was a child.
It got me thinking about how many cherished memories I have with loved ones that revolve around food.
Eating Danish butter cookies late at night with my Greek yiayia... the ones that came in the metal tin... she would hide them from everyone but me and coax me to eat to my heart's content late at night after everyone was asleep, while she told me about her life.
My other grandma always bought a box of Andes mints for when we visited. She'd set them out on the coffee table and I'd sit at her feet, eating, talking, and laughing. We also always went out to eat at the same restaurant on the North Shore of Chicago, where I would always always eat baby back ribs with french fries and an iceberg salad with ranch dressing. I can't look at those foods now without feeling pangs of nostalgia.
What fond memories do you have that are closely associated with food? I'm sure this thread has been done before but I'd love to read stories from current members, and I will read each and every reply.
