Enjoyed my BBQ plate at Allen and Sons just south of Chapel Hill on 15-501 this afternoon. Not a very smoky flavor like we're used to at Blue Ribbon in Boston, Mass (don't laugh), but we thought it tasted more, well, more like pig.
Very solid hush puppies and fries to boot.
I've poked around the South board a bit, and my conclusion is that at least according to South hounds, I need to go west to Lexington (#1 or other contenders), east to Ayden (Skylight) or Goldsboro-ish (Wilbur's) or South to SC (Sweatman's) to get something really chow-worthy. Is that true? Nothing else in the Triangle, Pittsboro, Sanford, Asheboro, etc? Dives are fine by us...
By the way, chopped, pulled or whole, no preference(i'm still learning)...
