Despite the posts claiming poor service at Rendezvous, we've never experienced anything but superb service and it has become our local favorite.
The side benefit is that it has driven improvements in Central Kitchen. We dined there for the first time in a long time this week and they are now offering bread and seem much more anxious to please. We asked to substitute mashed for fries and though they used to frown on this substitution, were very agreeable this time. They also solicited feedback on their desserts (the cheesecake was HORRIBLE--dry and tasteless--so we were eager to respond). I can only attribute this new found interest in pleasing the diner as need to compete with Rendezvous. Now if I could only get them to find sound tracks that don't overpower conversation.
Our biggest discovery in the last couple of weeks, however, is Gargoyles. We had attended a culinary competition a couple months ago at BU featuring pork products. The chef from Gargoyles came up with such a wonderfully creative dish that was complex and pleased the taste buds at so many levels it was no suprise to us when he won. We finally got to his restaurant and having Asian/Hawaiian roots myself, loved that some of their dishes included Asian/Hawaiian fusion. Loved it, loved it, loved it.
