Looking for something fun to eat near Metro Center today ended with me at Ceiba for the first time. I had their soup special, which brought together beef stock, Swiss cheese, chorizo, and toasted bread. A bit like a Latin French Onion SOup. Had a great kick to it.

My lunch companion had the black been soup. Bold and well-seasoned, the "soup" didn't have much liquid -- mostly beans -- was highly tasty. Latin crema and manchego helped soften the dish. Good stuff.

We each had Cubanos, which were good but not great. Later on I learned the sandwiches are a low point on the menu, but I'll be back for the other dishes.

Service was outstanding, I might add.
