Carnival, Festival and Fair Food

Anyone have any great discoveries of treats they've encountered at summertime events? I'm obviously excluding such things as Taste of Chicago and other "all food" gatherings....and am thinking of circuses, state fairs, amusement parks, traveling carnivals which encamp in neighborhood church parking lots, etc.

I remember going to the Minnesota State Fair a few years ago, and having some of the best "carney" food I've ever tasted. Fresh cheese curds, the freshest glass of milk you could imagine (at the dairymen's pavilion), hot miniature donuts cooked before your eyes at a stand called Tom Thumb Donuts, sensational french fries--salty and freshly cut and cooked--at a booth named simply, "French Fries." Corn on the cob with part of the stalk still intact to use a handle. Milk shakes. French fried onions. Hot, gooey brownies. We ate ourselves silly--and it was the highest quality junk I had ever had.
