I wanted to mention Carmel, at 254 Bernard W. (Bernard and Parc). Its run by J, who used to cook at the Copa. Its upscale--stone walls, fireplace, inlaid tables, and the food was good to very good.

I had a scallops and squash appetizer which was outstanding, a snapper which was good but a little to peppery, and a very nice chocolate and carmel mousse to finish.

It wasn't all that crowded, which is too bad. I thought it well worth the money.
