Finally got to try the grilled cheese night at Campanile last night, and heres what I thought.Only two of us, so couldnt book, arrived at 7.30 ish, the place was rockin, loud, crowded, even the bar was two deep. Was told there would be a wait of 1 1/2 hours but we were welcome to have a drink at the bar and see if maybe we could be squeezed in sooner. Got to talking to a regular who said they usually give you the worst case scenario re wait time, and to be patient. She was right, we were seated in less than 20 mins, good job we didnt leave!!! Both had the sandwiches, my croque monsieur was o.k, had better at Marcells in the Farmers market, in fact it was way more tasty and authentic. My girlfriend had an open sandwich with blue cheese, roasted radicchio, spiced walnuts and honey, very scrummy if a little on the small side. The bread was also a tad burnt! Fries accompanied our sandwiches, they were way overcooked but tasty. The hi lite for me was the aioli, delicious. We split a dessert, and with our cocktails at the bar, our bill came to about $60. Overall I would say we were happy with the service, the drinks were good, the food really could have been better, but its a great place and we will go back I am sure.
