Cal Ital? In DC?

Being a California native, I can best describe the type of Italian I like as "Cal Ital." Not too saucy, not too heavy, but just right. My favorite is Capellini (sp?) Pomodoro (chunks of tomato, garlic, basil with e.v.o.o.). As far as I have found, there isn't anything like this in DC. (I haven't been everywhere, but a smattering of places.) So my boyfriend wants this for a night out this weekend. Where can you recommend with this dish? Will travel, but would prefer to stay in DC. A great Caprese salad to boot wouldn't hurt.
