Cajeta in Brooklyn/Queens?

NancyC | Feb 1, 2008 05:55 PM

So on my way out of Mexico City a couple weeks ago, I stopped by the grocery store and was intrigued by a squeeze bottle of cajeta (might have been Coronado brand but I'm not sure...they had more than one at the store). I made it out of MEX with it although my friend leaving from a different terminal did not, but of course it was confiscated in ATL...damn, I wish I'd had a direct flight! Absolutely ridiculous as it was so thick it was almost solid, probably almost as thick as the mole I WAS allowed to bring in!

ANYWAY...would really love to find some locally. I live in Prospect Heights, and none of the grocery stores here have much variety on Latino products. Am willing to travel but would ideally love to hear if cajeta has been spotted relatively close by. Will I have luck in Sunset Park or am I stuck traveling up to Queens?

At the DF grocery store I also bought cajeta caramels, which were definitely Coronado. If the sauce tastes anything like the candies, I NEED it!
