DH and I had a very nice lunch at the Cafe Nostimo today. Its not downtown Portsmouth but off Islington Road by the YMCA. You order at the counter, get a number for the table and the staff brings your order when it’s ready.
We both had a cup of avgolemono soup that was really good, very lemon-y, thick but not too with rice and chicken.
I went with a lamb soulvaki pita wrap and he had the chicken version. Both were excellent, freshly grilled with a tangy tzatziki , fresh veggies (the tomato was great! not sure where they source them from).
We split an order of fries and each had a spendthrift seltzer. About $30.00 plus a few $$ for the tip bucket.
The last time I was there we had the boys with us. I remember the chicken tenders were amazing as was the roasted potatoes and Greek style green beans.
Wine and beer available as well as a very interesting dessert display case.
Definitely worth remembering when you are in the area.
