Went to Cafe Cakes yesterday to get some cakes and milk tea pudding for a meeting at work. All were as fantastic as ever. Since I was there in the morning, couldn't resist the temptation of trying one of the breakfast pastries. Most of them were from Iggy's, but the almond croissant was made in house, so I tried that. Oh my God -- it was unbelievable. At first glance it looks like it didn't come out right. It's encrusted in this almond paste that droops all over it and forms a sort of thin and crispy almond cookie around the whole thing. Looks strange, but tastes absolutely amazing. The inside was flaky and buttery and when you get to the center there is the creamiest almond custard hiding there.
The new space is beautiful and airy. A little empty for now, but I am sure they'll decorate more with time.
Having them on my way to work is dangerous though :)
