Cafe 88 and Sum Yee

After the last chowdown in Oakland some of us needed some food for dinner.

We want Chinese BBQ from Gum Kuo in the building that houses the parking for Oakland. But it was closed.

So we stopped next door at Cafe 88 for roast pig and roast duck. They looked very good and fresh. Believe it or not I have been buying for so long I can see the crispy skin calling to me.

Any the duck and roast pig were very good. I notice from the order/bill sheet that Cafe 88 was using Peony tags. Cafe 88 is located directly under Peony and I petty sure that food is done at Penoy. I notice after the chef chopped my meats that they had suckling pig available for 18.00 a pound. Will need to give it a try later.

Sum Yee is a takeout dim sum place with about five tables. I order sweet rice wraps and chive and shrimp dumplings. They were very good and now I have get more stuff to go next time. Actually I will post tomorrow since I walk the Oakland Chinatown streetfair today and will be eating more take out tonight. But that is another post.
