I recently ate at the Where Else? Cafe on South 11th St. again and enjoyed it. I stopped in before a beautiful concert of sacred music given by the U of A at St. Luke & the Epiphany on 13th St.
It is a tiny (20 seat) BYOB that serves good, cheap eats that lean toward the Latino side. I had their Tamales for $7 (1 beef, 1 chicken) which were tasty and good lamb chops ($15) as well. Most entrees are about $10 and their portions are big. This is not haute cuisine by any stretch but it is good and inexpensive, worthy of a Chowhound mention.
They now also have a restaurant that is just next store called Islas that is connected via the kitchen. One chef and one kitchen which cooks for both sides. Islas' menu looked Caribbean and ranged from $12-15 I think.
